I kind of knew I would, but I was surprised at HOW MUCH I loved it. So, naturally, when I got home, her book rose to the top of my TBR pile. I had this feeling that The Wig in the Window would share those qualities. So, I rushed off and snagged a copy and came back to get it signed.Īfter the festival, I got the chance to hang out with Kristen, and she has this knack for cutting to the heart of a conversation with warmth, wit, and an infectious zest for life-one that both welcomes the sparkly bits and acknowledges the internal black clouds. Then, when Kristen mentioned her editors, Rosemary Brosnan and Andrea Martin, I was like, OMG, I know them! They have fabulous taste in books. Kristen herself was insightful, extremely funny, and game for anything (much like her book). They both spoke eloquently on how the very best middle grade shows kids as real, whole, layered people. She was presenting with Cynthia Voigt, one of my childhood heroes. It’s hard enough to sit down next to a legend like that, but Kristen was just as marvelous. I’ll be giving away a signed copy of The Wig in the Window, as well as a couple other goodies, so don’t forget to enter below!
